These events are designed to get children together in a therapeutic environment of play and art/craft. They make friendships and create peer support in an informal setting. Importantly they are also aimed at helping parents to take a break from caring.

A snapshot of an Activity Day
Children and their parents and/or carers were introduced to their Key Worker who was looking after them for the day. Time was spent with “getting to know you” chat as well as introducing the children to the many activities. On this particular activity day there was an entertainer who did magic but also made balloon figures and giant bubbles, a bouncy castle and creative craft activities including making cards and decorating “Maypole” bags and biscuits. There was a supervised soft and sensory play area for the small and/or more disabled children and young people.
Wonderful feedback was received including:
- “My daughter really loved it”
- (the hall was) “lovely and spacious with great outdoor areas”
- (the hall was) “spacious and clean”
- “lots of activities to choose from – lots of thought and good ideas to make the day fun”
- “everyone was very friendly & listened to any information I wanted to pass on”
- “it was very well organised”
- “What an excellent idea!”
- “The staff were approachable, understanding, and helpful”
