The Spring Ball 2009
We had a ball and raised over £8,000!
Our Spring Ball has now become a regular diary date, and is attended by many supporters, along with many more new faces. It was held at The Warren Police Sports and Social Club, which provided a wonderful venue and great food as ever. Well over one hundred people attended and danced the night away to the fantastic band 'Out of Towners' with music to suit everyone's taste.
Guest comments following the event have praised the evening:
“Fantastic . . . congratulations . . . great event!”
“We had just the best time – thanks to all who organised it.”
We were really happy to have the Vice Chair of Crystal Palace, Dominic Jordan, who is a main sponsor of the charity, as our guest of honour at this event, and thanks to him we were lucky enough to auction two executive boxes for a match at Crystal Palace Football Club, each with signed t-shirt and football. He commented:
“We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, your staff must be commended on the organising and running of this event - it went without a hitch. Well done!”
Many other fabulous lots included:
- a signed Manchester United football
- a signed Arsenal football
- dinner for four at Cinnamon Kitchen with travel provided by Langley Executive
- a holiday apartment in Gambia
- six months gold gym membership with Mytime
- an Indian dinner for eight cooked and served in your home by Connexions
- a signed Barbarians shirt.
We also held a fantastic raffle with many more prizes.
Our thanks to everyone who made the night possible - staff from the project as well as volunteers and donors. In particular we would like to thank all who attended - many who have supported this event every year, alongside some new faces.
The ball is our premier fundraising event, which will become even more important as the credit crunch sets in. Half the seats are already booked for next year, Friday 7 May 2010, so email us or call us on 01689 898910 now with your reservations.
Summer Fayre
The Summer Fayre at Petts wood Memorial Hall was a huge success and everyone had fun while raising £1,000. The Orpington May Queen, Lizzie Warner opened the fayre having chosen The Maypole Project as her charity of the year. She presented the Chief Executive, Sally Taylor with a cheque for £500.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activities and stalls, due to the glorious weather the inflatable bouncy castle and assault course were a big hit with the children and even some of the grown ups! There were also lots of prizes to be won so no one went home empty-handed.
Our friends and families were treated to a wonderful maypole dance by the Maypole Queen and her entourage, and a dynamic display by Lisa Dennis's Virtue Taekwon-do club.
70s Night - fun filled success!
The Maypole Project celebrated the 1970's to raise funds for an adrenaline-fueled sky dive taking place in the Summer 2008.
Guests plundered the depths of their wardrobes to find vintage clothing and boogied the night away to classic 70's tunes in the players lounge, at Crystal Palace Selhurst's Park Stadium. Crystal Palace very kindly donated the lounge and a signed football as top prize for the raffle.
The night was a huge success, thanks to the great organisational skills of Niki Taylor, with over £1,000 being raised.
