Across 11 years The Maypole Project has developed a unique service whose support is accessed by over 1000 people who face the nightmare of childhood illness and disability every year. We now have a positive reputation which extends well beyond our current base of South East London.
Set up initially with counselling and therapy services for the whole family we now include positive activities such as inclusive sports and arts. Provided as a bespoke package of support to children with complex medical needs, their siblings, parents, carers, grandparents, as well as professionals involved in families’ care, we reach into areas other services do not reach.
Every day now The Maypole Project receives urgent requests for support as increasing numbers of families are learning of the ‘phenomenal’ services we can bring to them to help them through the chronic stresses and complexities that they face. Emotional and social support that is provided in the right place, at the right time, by the right people; a service which gives families the support they deserve, ensures they have a voice when times are hard, that they gel as a family when they are spread apart by hospitalisation and treatment, make new friends.
With your help we will not only maintain our commitment to families of providing this service for their lifetimes, but also reach out to more families across a broader area.
Through The Maypole Project Friend for a Lifetime scheme you can help. All that’s needed is a pledge from as little as £10 a year.
This is a project which truly helps families live life with their child as fully as is possible – however brief their child’s life may be.
