Family Support Worker

Job Title: Family Support Worker (Voluntary)

Hours: Minimum support work caseload: 1 family
This could equate to as much as 5 hours per week.
Attendance at monthly supervision session (2 hours) mandatory
Attendance at 1 training / update session per annum (minimum)
Responsible to: Chief Executive, The Maypole Project

Outline
To provide emotional support and/or information to families where there is a child/children with complex medical needs.

The Role
Provide emotional support to families in Greenwich (and surrounding areas) who have children with complex and life threatening illnesses.

Families will have been assessed by an experienced and / or qualified counselor/therapist from the project.

Family support workers will, in line with the assessment, and where necessary in liaison with referral assessor, contact the family and make appointments to provide support in the place, time to suit the client(s).

Ongoing support to be provided, any issues to be reported directly to supervisor.

The Maypole Project’s depending on the families’ needs (and requirements of course/college)
Supervision to be provided by The Maypole Project.

Responsibilities
Family Support Worker’s should follow the guidelines:

  • complete necessary paperwork.
  • liaise with the office in case of any questions/difficulties.
  • attend supervision monthly (mandatory)
  • attend ongoing training days/sessions.
