Aims

The Maypole Project aims to provide:

  • Relief, preservation and protection of the emotional wellbeing of individuals, predominantly but not entirely, children and young people diagnosed between birth and 18 years of age with a chronic illness that may be life threatening or life shortening, and their family members.
  • Emotional support that is uniquely proffered as ongoing from introduction to the project, flexible in its provision, professional, confidential, and understanding of the issues faced by children and young people who are ill and their whole families.
  • Education, support and preservation of the mental wellbeing of carers and professionals working with children's palliative care, and loss and bereavement.
  • Education of the general public about the emotional support available and provided to those suffering and affected by life threatening or life shortening illnesses and in all aspects regarding bereavement and life threatening or life shortening illnesses.
